Product Details
DIY Ambient LED Backlight Kit for TV and PC
Give your screen a colorful glow. This addressable LED strip uses screen-capture software to match the colors on your display, lighting the wall behind your TV or monitor as you watch or play. Choose the kit length and LED density that suit your setup.
Check compatibility before ordering
- For Android TV or Android TV boxes, Android 5.1 or later and a paid ambient light app are required. Samsung and LG TVs do not run Android TV; a compatible external Android TV box is needed for a non-Android TV.
- Listed as incompatible with Samsung, LG, TCL, Hisense and X96+ devices when used directly. Some Mi/Xiaomi boxes may not work properly and are not recommended.
- DRM-protected video is not supported. Streaming apps using protected content, including Netflix and YouTube, may not work with this capture method.
- Regular broadcast TV channels are not captured by the Android app. 4K performance depends on your hardware.
Software by setup
- Windows: AmbiBox or Prismatik. AmbiBox download.
- Raspberry Pi: OpenELEC or LibreELEC with Hyperion. Setup video.
- Android TV or TV box: Ambient Light Application for Android (paid software). Application setup guide.
You can also use a computer connected to your TV as a monitor, or run a compatible OpenELEC/LibreELEC and Hyperion setup on supported hardware.
In the box
- 1 LED strip
- 1 light box
- 1 USB cable
- 1 power adapter
- 1 manual
Setup tips
Connect the kit and configure your capture zones before sticking the strip to your screen. Test the lighting first, then attach and trim the strip as needed. On Windows, select “Adalight” and the detected COM port in AmbiBox; use the capture-zone wizard to set up the screen areas. Watch the AmbiBox setup guide. If the COM port is missing, you may need the CH340 USB driver. If colors look washed out, adjust gamma; if a black screen gives a white glow, enlarge the sample zones.
Setup takes some fine-tuning. If you need help getting it working, contact us before attaching or cutting the strip.
